do you remember what a vampire bite feels like? it feels like someone poured gasoline on your veins, and like a bear trap is clamped on your throat trying to snap bones in half, and you get really cold while your blood empties out, and you can hear them swallow, not really with your ears, but your body. it feels like dying, and dying so something else can live. so it feels like losing, too. who would like that?
( other than somebody who likes to suffer, like say, buffy summers. she never really forgot about what it felt like to have angel's teeth in her throat — maybe she thinks about it more often than she'd care to admit. scared, and also not scared. there are worse things than dying, after all, like being brought back. )
i guess dracula's fangs weren't as bad, but you're no count, spike.
( it probably should not be shocking to hear "historically famous vampire actually sucky bad man", and it really isn't, except that buffy still holds a weird candle for dracula. to be fair, he was really charming. )
